The Monstrous Body

Epidermis, Poetry of Bodies & Archaeology.

Statement

I devote myself to the exploration of so-called monstrous bodies, forms that attract attention by their difference
and their singularity.Everything being deeply rooted in the Times and the Stories of Humanity, of Art, the "Monster"
is often perceived as an Other, different from oneself, one that one can flee or avoid.
However, I do not seek to hurt, hurt or shock.
On the contrary, through sculpture and in collaboration with archeology, I seek to show and express these forms,
to celebrate their uniqueness, and to invite viewers to reflect on their own relationship to strangeness, to beauty in imperfection,
and times.

It is an exploration of humanity in all its diversity, an invitation to see and embracewhat is different, while acknowledging the memory and history that shape our understanding of the present.

The epidermis, what is it?

The epidermis is a bit of what I lost one October 31st,
It's what covers the titanium holding my broken bones,
It's what I sometimes don't recognize when I look at myself,
It's my subject when I hold a camera,
It's what I want to show with my sculptures,
It's a part of us,Just a part, not our whole selves.

Well, it's the marriage of the conscious and the unconscious and from these terrible and bizarre marriages are born monsters which are the works, sometimes exquisite monsters.

Archaeology, what is it?

Archaeology studies civilizations from their material cultures. From observation to interpretation, through restoration and recording, archaeology requires a wealth of knowledge and know-how.

This unique and special moment.

The moment of excavation of a work is a unique and special moment in the creative process, a moment that symbolizes both birth and revelation. It is the moment when the sculpture emerges from its mould, accompanied by rubble, like a buried treasure which is finally discovered. This moment is charged with emotion and meaning, as it represents the continued creation of the vestige that I am undertaking. The sculpture, still wrapped in the raw materials of its creation, is both vulnerable and powerful, an art object in the making.

The rubble that accompanies the sculpture is not simply debris; they are an integral part of the story of the work, testifying to its journey from the original idea to its physical realization. They recall the strata of the earth that hide the archaeological remains, and in this context they become a metaphor for time and memory. Excavation is a delicate act, a balance between revealing and preserving, between exposing the work and maintaining its integrity. It is a moment of discovery and connection, where the artist encounters his work in its rawest and most authentic form.

This special moment transcends mere creation; it is a celebration of art, a tribute to beauty in imperfection, and a poignant reminder of our own relationship to time and history. It is a suspended moment, where the past and the present meet, and where the work begins to come to life, ready to inspire and move those who encounter it.
